Consultation is the starting point in a successful liposuction plastic surgery procedure, which will pave the way for other key steps in the surgical process.
The patient will have an opportunity familiarize themselves with the surgeon and gain useful insights about the procedure as well as the surgeon’s practice. The surgeon will also utilize the consultation to learn about the patient’s personal cosmetic goals and aspirations to create a customized liposuction plan.
Board certified plastic surgeons at MBody provide liposuction and other cosmetic and reconstructive procedures for the body, face and breast. A dedicated surgeon will invest time in the pre-operative consultation to determine the patient’s fitness for liposuction, provide instructions, and address their doubts and concerns.
MBody provides liposuction to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and other neighborhoods in this part of the country.
Health Assessment
A general health exam will be performed during the initial consultation to determine whether the patient is fit enough for surgery and anesthesia. The surgeon will review the patient’s medical records, examine their current health status, check their body weight and measurements, and assess the specific areas in the body where fat deposits need to be reduced.
In some cases, the surgeon may order a few medical tests prior to the procedure. The patient’s skin quality and the amount of skin laxity in the targeted areas will also be reviewed. Additional skin tightening treatments may be recommended in a few cases where skin elasticity is poor.
Sharing Information
The patient will be required to share relevant information pertaining to their current health as well as certain lifestyle habits such as smoking and drinking. They will be asked to provide a list of various prescription and non-prescription medications, including supplements, which they may be currently taking.
The schedule of some of the medications may be changed or the drugs may be temporarily discontinued in consultation with the physician in order to ensure a safe liposuction plastic surgery procedure.
Developing Expectations
During the consultation, the surgeon will make an effort to ensure that the patient clearly understands the potential benefits and risks as well as the limitations of liposuction, and makes a well-informed choice. The surgeon may present liposuction before and after photos during the consultation to let the patient know exactly what to expect and what not to expect from the surgery.
Testimonials of past patients may also be shared with the patient to help them understand the procedure and results from the perspective of actual patients. Dedicated plastic surgeons Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin receive patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and nearby areas for liposuction.
Questions and Answers
During the consultation, the patient will have an opportunity to ask questions and clear all their concerns about liposuction surgery as well as the surgeon’s practice. The surgeon will answer all questions in an accurate, detailed manner. At this point, the patient should also ask about the costs and financing aspects of liposuction surgery.
