What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

    Tag Archives: Ashburn

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift? | Richmond Plastic Surgery | ViennaBrazilian butt lift has emerged as one of the more sought-after plastic surgery procedures in the last few years. Many people, including those in the younger age groups, want to achieve an enhanced shape of the buttocks to create an attractive posterior profile. A Brazilian butt lift can create dramatic improvements to the buttock contour and add more definition to it.
The procedure is different from traditional buttock augmentation surgery, and should only be performed by an experienced surgeon with expertise in this area. Board certified plastic surgeons at MBody provide Brazilian butt lift surgery to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and surrounding communities.

    Less Invasive Surgery

One of the reasons behind the popularity of Brazilian butt lift is that the surgery is fairly uncomplicated and less invasive. The surgeon can reshape and lift the buttocks simply by performing fat transfer from areas such as the abdomen or thighs to the buttocks.
With this simple fat transfer plastic surgery, it is possible to transform thin, flat and droopy backside into a perky and curvaceous one. People with uneven or asymmetric buttocks can also benefit from this procedure and acquire more natural looking buttock contours in a less invasive manner.

    Procedure

A Brazilian butt lift surgery may be completed in about two to three hours, depending on the extent of buttock enhancement involved. The procedure may be performed using general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthesia. As a first step, the plastic surgeon will harvest excess fat tissue from one or more donor sites in the patient’s body.
The fat removal part will be similar to liposuction, where the surgeon will insert a thin cannula into donor sites through very small incisions. Fatty tissue will be carefully suctioned out, leaving slimmer, and more attractive contours in the donor site. The second step will be to sterilize, purify, and process the collected fat tissue for injecting in the targeted areas of the buttocks.
The harvested fat cells will bond with the existing tissue in the buttocks through this fat grafting process. The surgeon will make use of an extremely small needle to inject the harvested fat cells into the musculature and deep fat layers of the buttocks. This step will be performed with high precision to achieve a smooth, even, and natural looking appearance of the buttocks.
In most cases, nearly one-fourth of the harvested fat cells will be utilized in the fat grafting process. MBody receives patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and nearby areas for Brazilian butt lift surgery.

    Recovery

It is important to allow the grafted fatty tissue in the buttocks to heal and acquire a firm new shape. The patient should avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for the first one to two weeks. They may also have to take at least a week off work, particularly if it is a sedentary job.

What is a Mommy Makeover? | Richmond Plastic Surgery | Vienna | McLeanPregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding can take a toll on a woman’s body in cosmetic terms. Many mothers wish to restore their pre-pregnancy figure after they have had children, and do not have any future plan for another pregnancy. Mommy makeover plastic surgery procedure may be an ideal solution in such cases where significant cosmetic correction is required in multiple areas.
An advantage with a mommy makeover is that the procedure is highly customizable to suit the specific needs of a candidate. The surgeon will carefully assess the patient’s anatomical and aesthetic needs and suggest an appropriate mommy makeover surgical plan. The procedure will be designed to address problems such as fat reduction, skin tightening and removal of stretch marks and cellulite – all in a single surgical procedure.
MBody, led by board certified plastic surgeons, provides mommy makeover and various other procedures to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and surrounding communities.

    Suitable Candidates

Whether a woman gives birth naturally or undergoes a C-section, she can make a stellar candidate for mommy makeover plastic surgery in either case. The candidate should be in good general health and be declared fit by the surgeon to sustain a major procedure such as mommy makeover.
Her primary goal would be to reverse the cosmetic impacts of pregnancy, and regain youthful body contours, smooth, and firm skin and reduction of stretch marks, scars, and cellulite appearance. She should have a stable body weight and a commitment to maintain a balanced and active lifestyle following the surgery.

    Procedure

A mommy makeover surgery will typically be performed with the patient under general anesthesia. The duration of the surgery can vary depending on the number of procedures and the extent of correction required. The plastic surgeon will customize the mommy makeover to suit the unique needs of the patient.
The surgeon’s goal will be to make the procedure less invasive in order to have less conspicuous scarring, shorter recovery and minimal post-operative discomfort. In some cases, the surgeon may combine one or more non-invasive procedures along with surgery to achieve more effective outcomes.
One or more of the following procedures are usually included as a part of a mommy makeover:

    • Breast Augmentation
    • Breast Lift
    • Breast Reduction
    • Liposuction
    • Tummy Tuck
    • Facelift
    • Body Lift
    • Cellulite Reduction
    • Stretch Mark Removal
    • Non-invasive procedures

Some women may suffer volume loss in the breasts following pregnancy or breastfeeding, which can be correct with breast implants. On the other hand, some women may develop loose skin in the breasts and abdominal due to overstretching during pregnancy. This may be corrected with breast lift and tummy tuck surgeries. Breast reduction may be recommended where the mom has developed oversized breasts after pregnancy.
Liposuction is often included in mommy makeovers to improve body contours in a less invasive manner. MBody receives patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and nearby areas for mommy makeover surgery.

Kybella vs. CoolMini: Which Double Chin Treatment is Best? | RichmondPeople who want to reduce double chin appearance without plastic surgery now have two unique non-surgical options cleared by the FDA. Kybella injections from Kythera and CoolMini treatment from the makers of CoolSculpting are two divergent procedures with a common goal of removing unwanted fat tissue below the chin and restore a strong, sculpted chin and jaw.
Board certified plastic surgeons at MBody provide a wide range of aesthetic surgical and non-surgical procedures, including Kybella and CoolMini for double chin reduction. MBody provides these procedures to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg and surrounding communities.

    How does the Treatment Work?

Kybella’s key ingredient is deoxycholic acid, which is a natural substance in the body to disintegrate and absorb fat cells. When Kybella medication is delivered through targeted injections in the submental area, it dissolves the outer membrane of fat cells, causing their selective destruction.
A series of Kybella injections will eliminate unwanted fat below the chin without involving any plastic surgery. A single Kybella treatment session may last for about 10 to 20 minutes, and most patients may achieve optimal results with three to six treatments.
The CoolMini device for double chin fat reduction works on the same principle as the CoolSculpting treatment. It is designed to sculpt the area below the chin by freezing the fat cells to their death through a unique process called cryolipolysis. Fat cells are isolated and frozen first with the controlled cooling temperatures before the skin or muscle cells can be affected.
Therefore, the stubborn fat cells are selectively targeted and eliminated. The procedure involves no cuts, incisions, needles or medication and produces sustainable results. Plastic surgeons at MBody receive patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg and nearby areas for double chin fat reduction.

When do the Results become Visible?

In case of Kybella injectable treatment, once a cell has been disintegrated, it will gradually get processed through the body’s natural metabolism. It will take a few weeks before the treated fat cells melt away, revealing slimmer submental contours. In just two treatment sessions, many patients can achieve 50 percent reduction of excess submental fat.
In case of CoolMini double chin treatment, the frozen fat cells will break down and get metabolized in about two to three months. The patient will be able to notice immediate improvements as well as see the fat below the chin shrink gradually. However, full results of a well-defined jaw line will be established after the completion of multiple treatment sessions in two to three months.

    Candidacy

Kybella may be appropriate for adults who want to get rid of small to substantial amounts of fat deposits in the submental area. CoolMini is more effective for candidates who want to remove small to moderate amounts of fat in this area. Both procedures are ideally suited for people who want to avoid cosmetic surgery to reduce the appearance of double chin.

    • Is liposuction recovery going to be painful?
    • When can I expect to return to my workplace or resume my exercises and other routine activities?
    • Do I need someone else to drive me home post surgery?

    Questions about Costs

    • What will be the estimated costs of liposuction surgery?

    • What will be the cost difference if the procedure is performed at a hospital, a surgical center, or a private surgical suite?

Liposuction Plastic Surgery Recovery | Richmond | Reston | ViennaLiposuction currently ranks at number two after breast augmentation among the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the US. Liposuction usually involves a relatively short recovery, but recovery time may vary between patients according to the extent of surgery performed. The surgeon will discuss the recovery aspect during the pre-op consultation.
MBody, led by board certified plastic surgeons, provides liposuction and various other cutting edge cosmetic procedures. Patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and surrounding locations have an opportunity to receive liposuction at MBody.

    Factors that Influence Recovery

Although in most cases, liposuction recovery will be smooth and quick, it will still be impacted by a number of factors. The amount of fat removed, the type of anesthesia applied, the location of the target area, the surgical technique used by the surgeon, and the patient’s natural healing ability will determine how fast the patient recovers from liposuction plastic surgery. In most cases, liposuction will be performed on an outpatient basis involving only local anesthesia.

    Immediate Post-Surgical Phase

Following the surgery, the patient should have someone to drive them back home. They should preferably also have a family member, friend or a hired help to assist at home in the first two to three days. Mild pain in the incision areas in the initial days can be managed with pain meds prescribed by the surgeon. Antibiotics and iron supplements may also be prescribed to some patients.
The plastic surgeon will provide a list of recovery instructions, which should be followed diligently to ensure safer and faster recovery. MBody receives patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and nearby areas for liposuction.

    First Week

Immediately after the surgery, the treated area will be wrapped in bandages to minimize swelling and promote healing. An elastic support corset may be provided, which should be worn at least in the first week as per the surgeon’s advice. The bruising will be mild in most cases, but in more invasive liposuction cases, it may be more severe in the first week.
Swelling takes a longer time to disappear, but it will begin mitigating from the second week. In the first few weeks, the patient may feel numbness in the operated area, but the sensation will return on its own. The patient should expect to return to their daily routine in about one week, if liposuction has only been performed in one area. In case of multiple areas, the patient may require 10 to 14 days before resuming their regular activities.

    Long-term Recovery

Swelling will go away entirely after several weeks or months. During this period, subtle improvements will be progressively noticeable, but complete results will establish once the swelling has been entirely eliminated.
Results with liposuction are sustainable because the fat cells once removed from an area will not return. However, liposuction is not a substitute for diet or exercise, and a healthy and balance lifestyle must be followed to maintain the results for a long time.

Are You a Candidate for Liposuction? | Reston | Vienna | Chevy ChaseDuring the initial consultation for liposuction plastic surgery, the first goal of the surgeon will be to assess the patient’s candidacy and clear them for the procedure. Several aspects will be evaluated in this process in order to recommend liposuction to the right candidate only.
Board certified plastic surgeons at MBody provide liposuction to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and surrounding locations.

    Who should Undergo Liposuction?

A good candidate for liposuction will be someone who enjoys general good health, has a stable body weight within 25 pounds of their ideal weight, and suffers from unsightly fat bulges in specific areas of the body that have become resistant to exercise and diet. Individuals above the age of 18 who meet the basic fitness and health criteria would usually make good candidates for liposuction plastic surgery.

    Who should Avoid Liposuction?

The following individuals are not likely to make good candidates for liposuction:

    • Pregnant or nursing woman
    • An individual with a health concern that could pose risk during surgery or post-op healing
    • People who are unable to stop smoking before surgery as stipulated by the surgeon
    • Patients who are unable to discontinue or alter the schedule of certain prescription medications or blood thinners and herbal supplements before and after surgery
    • Individuals who have a known allergy to lidocaine, a local anesthetic used in tumescent liposuction

    Candidacy for Teens

In exceptional circumstances, the surgeon may approve candidate for a teen, especially after a substantial weight loss that may have left one or two lingering fat pockets. The plastic surgeon will evaluate the teen’s health, age, maturity and self-esteem to determine candidacy. Teen candidates will typically require contour correction in a limited area to address their self-esteem issues.

    Candidacy for Adults

Upper age limit for liposuction is not specifically defined, but any adult who enjoys a reasonably good health and fitness level may safely undergo liposuction. Some people first like to consult their primary care physician and then meet the liposuction surgeon to be more confident about their suitability to undergo this procedure.
The ideal candidate will have a fairly elastic skin in order to achieve optimal results with liposuction. Liposuction is only a fat reduction surgery, and not a skin tightening procedure. Therefore, if the patient has severe skin laxity, they may have to combine liposuction with a body lift surgery. This concern is more common among older patients than younger ones.
Patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and nearby areas have an opportunity to receive liposuction at MBody.

    Reasonable Expectations

An ideal candidate for liposuction will have reasonable expectations, and will know what the procedure can or cannot do for them. Liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, and it cannot remove wrinkles, folds, cellulite, or stretch marks. Only about 10 pounds of fat from a localized area may be removed for safe results with liposuction.

    • Will I be able to breastfeed in the future?

    • When will I be able to resume my exercise regimen?

The patient should also feel free to ask questions about the estimated costs of procedure. If the surgeon’s office has some information about medical financing, the patient should seek such information right at the time of pre-op consultation and initiate the financing process early.

Rhinoplasty | Nose Job | Plastic Surgery | Before and After | RichmondRhinoplasty (Nose Job Surgery)

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to improve the size and shape of the nose in harmony with other facial features. Rhinoplasty may appear to be a relatively minor procedure, but it involves intricacies and can significantly impact the overall facial appearance.
During the initial consultation, the surgeon will explain all aspects of rhinoplasty to the patient and may also present rhinoplasty before and after photographs. Board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin provide rhinoplasty to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, and surrounding areas.

What are Rhinoplasty Before and After Pictures?

Before and after pictures in case of rhinoplasty nose plastic surgery refer to a set of images belonging to an earlier patient who has undergone the same surgery with successful results. The set includes pictures taken before the surgery and after the surgery at a stage when the bruising, swelling and redness has disappeared and full results of rhinoplasty are visible.
The surgeon will ensure that these photographs are obtained with the express consent of the patient and presented before new patients in a discreet way. The identity of the original patient is usually not disclosed in this exercise. The purpose behind these photos is to educate new patients about various aspects of rhinoplasty and help them make an informed decision.
A picture truly does speak a thousand word. The use of digital technology has transformed humanity and the surgical field has capitalized on this digital trend. Having photos such as this on the website makes it so much easier for someone to know what they are contemplating and the capabilities of these doctors. Now plastic surgeons can focus more on their job and not so much explaining to people what they can do for them. Digital pictures does all this for them and saves them time and the patient anxiety.

See Rhinoplasty (Nose Job Surgery) Before and After Photos

    Advantages

When an individual seeks a rhinoplasty consultation, it is quite likely that they have a variety of concerns based upon what they may have read or heard from others about the procedure. The first goal of the plastic surgeon is to put their apprehensions to rest and provide them a clear description of the procedure and its potential effectiveness.
To facilitate the patient’s understanding, the surgeon can use rhinoplasty before and after photos as a visual aid. Appropriate photos may be presented for male, female, native or ethnic patients. MBody receives patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, and nearby areas for rhinoplasty.

    Realistic Expectations

In any cosmetic procedure, it is important to ensure that the patient does not misinterpret the surgeon’s explanations during the pre-op consultation process and keep unrealistic expectations. This risk can be countered when the surgeon presents rhinoplasty nose job before and after photos at the very outset.
With these photos, the patient will know clearly what the procedure can or cannot do for them. This will help them achieve higher satisfaction from the results, and mitigate the possibility of any disappointment occurring later on.

    Salient Digital Photos

While patients may have access to rhinoplasty before and after pictures through the Internet or plastic surgery publications, the surgeon has a choice to go the extra mile and provide rhinoplasty before and after photos on their official website.
This will enable potential patients to review the photos in digital format in the privacy and comfort of their home or office. If they feel encouraged after seeing the photos, they may consider visiting the surgeon’s office for a personal rhinoplasty consultation.

How to Prepare for Your Breast Augmentation Consultation | AshburnPre-operative consultation is an important part of breast augmentation plastic surgery. Therefore, the patient should be prepared to be actively involved in this process for her own benefit.
Board certified plastic surgeons at MBody provide breast augmentation to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and surrounding locations.

    What to Discuss during Consultation

The patient should preferably come prepared to make the most out of the breast augmentation plastic surgery consultation. She should be prepared to discuss key issues such as:

    • Why the patient wants to undergo breast augmentation, what are her expectations and what kind of results she is looking for
    • Any current medical conditions, previous medical or surgical treatments, and drug allergies
    • Current prescribed or other medications, herbal supplements, and vitamins that she may be taking
    • Current and past history of smoking, alcohol and drug use
    • Family history of breast cancer
    • Results of previous mammograms or biopsies

The patient should also be prepared for the surgeon’s questions regarding her health and risk factors, and make sure to provide accurate answers. She will have to go through a breast exam, including detailed measurements of their shape and size, skin laxity and skin type, and position of the areolas and nipples.
The initial consultation may also include taking of photos of the breasts. Experienced plastic surgeons at MBody receive patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and nearby areas for breast augmentation.

    Understanding the Options

During the consultation, the surgeon will explain various aspects of breast augmentation surgery. If at this time, the patient clearly understands her options, she can make well-considered choices in consultation with the surgeon. It is natural to feel anxious or concerned about the new look or experience pre-operative stress. The patient should share her thoughts and feelings clearly with the surgeon so that best decisions can be taken.

Some of the key options in breast implant surgery include:

    • Silicone implants vs. Saline implants vs. Ultra Cohesive Silicone implants
    • Round shaped vs. Tear shaped breast implants
    • Smooth vs. Textured implants
    • Size of implants – from 120 cc to 960 cc
    • Implant over the muscle or under the muscle
    • Location of incisions

    Review Before and After Images

Prior to the consultation, the patient should try to review as many breast augmentation ‘before and after’ photos as possible from the Internet.
As a first step, she should check out the surgeon’s website to learn more about the procedure, and look for a Photo Gallery on the site. Even during the consultation process, the surgeon may present before and after photos, which she should go through carefully.

    Check Own Breasts

Prior to the consultation, the patient should take a good look at herself in the mirror. With a clear idea about her own breast anatomy, she will be in a better position to understand the surgeon’s perspective and recommendations about breast augmentation.

    • Make a list of all the medications, including prescription drugs, over the counter medicines such as aspirin and blood thinners, vitamins and herbal supplements that are being used currently.
    • Get a baseline mammogram done ahead of time as per the surgeon’s advice, if no recent mammograms are available. A mammogram with specialized views may be required, in addition to routine mammograms.
    • Arrange a talk between the surgeon and the personal physician for the adjustment of any prescription meds well in time.
    • Stop smoking a few weeks ahead of surgery, strictly as per the surgeon’s recommendation.
    • Complete any major or strenuous household chores or any other pressing tasks ahead of time so that the initial recovery period can be entirely stress-free.
    • Preferably, arrange someone to assist during the first few days of post-operative phase as well as someone who can drive the patient back home after the surgery and stay overnight for help.

Following the surgeon’s instructions to the letter during the pre- and post-operative phases will significantly benefit the patient. Not adhering to the instructions may increase the risk and create difficulties during the surgery as well as recovery.

    Common Instructions

Some of the instructions that a plastic surgeon may commonly advise to the patient as a part of preparation for breast augmentation will include:

    • Do not use aspirin, ibuprofen and NSAIDs for at least 10 days prior to the procedure.
    • Discontinue vitamin E, vitamin C, and any herbal supplements or remedies at least one month before surgery.
    • Do not wear makeup, nail polish, contact lenses, or jewelry or body piercings on the day of the surgery.
    • Do not wear any hair accessories that may contain metal, such as clips with metal springs.
    • Choose comfortable garments and shoes on the day of the surgery. Pants or shorts may be preferable and the top should button or zip in the front in order to avoid having to go over the head.
    • Do not consume alcohol for 24 hours prior to surgery.
    • Do not eat or drink anything for eight hours prior to surgery.
    • Diabetics should discuss their condition on the morning of the surgery.
