Microblading, commonly known as eyebrow embroidery, is a semi-permanent makeup procedure to improve or fully rebuild lost eyebrows. Unlike plastic surgery or other invasive procedures, microblading is a gentle, non-surgical way to restore natural looking eyebrow appearance.
MBody is a renowned and terrific practice led by board certified plastic surgeons providing microblading and various other cosmetic procedures. Patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and surrounding areas have an opportunity to receive this procedure at MBody.
How is Microblading Performed?
The microblading eyebrow makeup procedure involves the use of a special pen to manually deposit pigment underneath the top layer of the skin in the eyebrow area. Microblading technique draws individual, sharp hair strokes that are more natural looking than an automated procedure. The blade used in microblading is three times thinner than the needles used for tattooing.
Therefore, the procedure is nearly painless when it is performed by an experienced treatment provider. The provider may apply a local numbing solution to minimize discomfort. The color is impacted close to the surface, and crisp strokes of the pen ensure there is no ‘spilling’ under the skin. The procedure does not require the existing brow hair to be shaved off, and does not damage them in any way. The entire procedure is usually completed in less than two hours.
Microblading must be performed at a professional facility where sterile environment can be ensured. The provider must disinfect the targeted area carefully, and make use of disposable pen, blades and micro-brushes. MBody plastic surgery and non-surgical practice receives patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredricksburg, and nearby communities.
Candidacy
Anyone who is bothered by the thinning hair or loss of hair in the eyebrow area, or simply wants thicker eyebrows for cosmetic reasons may be a good candidate for microblading procedure. People suffering from alopecia, trigonometrical, or any other condition that causes hair loss can ideally benefit from this procedure.
People with all kinds of original eyebrow color may make equally good candidates for microblading. The pigments used in this technique are formulated to match with the patient’s original eyebrow color. Therefore, if eyebrows are partially present, the new hair strokes will blend naturally into them. The right color and shape to fit the face will be decided prior to the procedure in consultation with the patient.
Results
Most patients will be able to achieve a fuller, flawless natural looking eyebrow. The brows will initial appear darker, but will fade considerably over a period of next two weeks. It is usually recommended to have a touch up done because it is difficult to predict how well the skin may retain the pigment.
Results will usually last for about one year, and may even sustain up to 18 months in some cases. An annual touch up procedure will help to retain the shape and saturation of the pigment. No downtime is involved in this procedure.
