‘Vampire’ Facelift
The PRP (platelet rich plasma) facelift is popularly known by the name of “Vampire Facelift”. This is a non-surgical procedure involving the delivery of PRP material, which is extracted from the patient’s own blood, into affected areas of the face in order to restore a smoother, more volumized and rejuvenated facial appearance.
To create more comprehensive outcomes without plastic surgery, the treatment providers at MBody will combine PRP injections with microneedling technique., which is the dense inner skin layer below the epidermis.
Candidates
PRP facelift is a safe, non-surgical procedure, which can be suitable for nearly any adult who wants to achieve facial rejuvenation without surgery. Even elderly patients make good candidates for this treatment because they may want to avoid more invasive procedures due to higher risk of complications and slow recovery. Busy moms and working people are ideal candidates because PRP facelift will involve minimal downtime and discomfort, and easily fit into their busy schedules.
How does PRP Work?
Every part of the body contains stem cells, including the skin. The PRP factors activate the dormant stem cells that may be lying on the facial skin through the growth factors found in PRP. When the dormant stem cells are reactivated, they help in the growth of new, younger looking skin. Patients can achieve more youthful and vibrant facial skin without involving any cuts, incisions or plastic surgery.
Procedure
The first step in the PRP facelift procedure is to collect blood from the patient. About two to four vials of blood will be drawn from the patient’s arm. The blood will be sent through a centrifugal process to separate plasma and platelets from the red blood cells. Once this is done, 3 to 6 ml of platelet rich plasma (PRP) will be extracted.
The PRP will then be blended with a special vitamin serum used to fill out wrinkles in order to create a more youthful facial look. The next stage will be to inject the PRP in the targeted areas of the face. The area will be numbed with a topical anesthetic cream to mitigate discomfort from needling.
The process of spreading the PRP onto the patient’s face will begin once the numbing effect has occurred. The microneedling device will be used to apply PRP along with the injections.
