Limitations of Kybella Injections
The board certified plastic surgeons at MBody, Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin, recommend non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures such as CoolMini and Micro Liposuction over Kybella injections. Kybella treatment is typically marked by certain limitations, which include:
- At least three to four treatment sessions may be needed with Kybella, which makes it a more time-consuming as well as more expensive option
- Multiple needle injections will be administered in each treatment session, which can be a daunting and painful prospect for many patients.
- Post-treatment swelling or ‘bullfrog’ effect will be noticeable for up to one week after each treatment session, which can be a prolonged process when the patient has to undergo multiple treatments.
CoolMini by CoolSculpting
is an FDA-cleared device specially designed to address unwanted fat pockets in smaller areas such as under the chin. The treatment is completely non-invasive, and involves no incisions, needles or medications. The patient will typically require only two treatment sessions to achieve their desired chin appearance. Minor swelling or bruising may be expected, but typically no downtime is involved.
CoolMini treatment is also more affordable compared to Kybella injections. It employs the same unique fat-freezing technique as CoolSculpting to eliminate targeted fat cells in a selective manner. CoolMini applicator will direct the powerful cooling energy at the fat cells, causing them to freeze and gradually disintegrate.
The disintegrated cells will be naturally reabsorbed by the body’s own metabolic process, while the outer skin layers remain without damage to minimize the post-treatment recovery. The patient can return to their normal routine immediately, and the procedure will cause no significant discomfort during or after the treatment session.
Micro Liposuction of the Neck
This is an innovative in-office liposuction treatment that is performed by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin. The patient will remain awake throughout the treatment without requiring general anesthesia or sedation. Minimal discomfort will occur during and after the procedure, and most patients can return to their normal routine within a day if cosmetic appearance is not a concern.
The micro liposuction technique called LITTLE Lipo can be performed at MBody using only local tumescent anesthetic and mild anti-anxiety medications. Only very tiny incisions will be made to minimize swelling and bruising. Just like traditional liposuction the micro liposuction technique will gently suction out excess fatty tissue from submental area through very fine cannulas, which are typically only about 3 to 5 mm in diameter.
