Following a Brazilian butt lift plastic surgery, it is important to allow time for the tissue and skin to heal properly and establish desirable results. The patient will be required to visit the surgeon for follow-up appointments and adhere to their recovery instructions to ensure safe and timely recovery.
MBody’s board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin provide Brazilian butt lift and various other procedures of the breast, body, and face to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, and nearby locations.
Immediate Post-Operative Phase
If the Brazilian butt lift plastic surgery has been performed using general anesthesia, the patient may feel mild discomfort and grogginess for a few hours. The buttock region will have bruises and swelling from surgery. After a few hours of monitoring, the patient will allowed to leave for home accompanied by someone to drive them back.
The patient should properly learn how to sit or lie down without exerting too much pressure on the buttocks. After the Brazilian butt lift, the transferred fat should be allowed to integrate well with the original tissue. Pillows may be used under the thighs to sit without causing any disruption to the treated areas.
First Week
Painkillers and antibiotics may be required as prescribed by the plastic surgeon for the first few days. In a few cases, anticoagulants may also be prescribed to prevent blood clotting. The patient should rest adequately in an appropriate position in the first week, wear compression garment at all times, keep hydrated, and perform light walks after the first one or two days to stay active.
It may be a fabulous idea to have someone to stay with the patient for assistance in the first two or three days. Most patients will need to take time off from work in the first week. MBody receives patients from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, and nearby areas for Brazilian butt lift.
Following Weeks
After the first week, the patient will be required to visit the surgeon’s office for a review of the healing progress and removal of drains and stitches. Depending on the healing status, the patient may be able to return to work after the first week. However, heavy lifting of weights and very demanding physical activities should be eschewed for about three to four weeks, both at home and the workplace.
Some surgeons may recommend the patient to have daily massage to restore quicker blood circulation and expedite recovery. Many patients may be able to travel or drive after the first week.
Results
In about two to six months following the Brazilian butt lift, most of the inflammation and discoloration in the treated area would have disappeared. Patients are generally fully healed at this stage. In about one year, the fat tissue transfer should have settled and the patient can enjoy the full results of the procedure.
