Candidacy
Individuals who need to augment buttocks by adding volume to the backside rather than removing excess tissue are more appropriate candidates for a Brazilian butt lift plastic surgery. The candidate should have surplus fat tissue available in other areas of the body so that the surgeon may use it for fat transfer during Brazilian butt lift. Ideal candidates will have adequate excess fat deposits and reasonably elastic skin. If the skin sags excessively, a traditional butt lift may have to be performed first.
Procedure
As a first step, the plastic surgeon will remove excess fat from one or more targeted areas using liposuction technique. A minor incision will be made in the area to remove excess fat via a thin cannula. Liposuction may be assisted by lasers, ultrasound or other techniques to dissolve fat deposits before aspirating them. In many cases, liposuction may be performed using local anesthesia only.
Once the required amount of fat cells is removed, it will be purified with the help of a centrifugal process. The best quality tissue will separated for transferring to the buttocks through injections with slender cannulas. The fat will be transferred at multiple depths for a more natural appearance and feel.
The depth, number, and volume of injections will depend on the technique chosen by the surgeon, but in many cases, more realistic results are achieved with a higher number of smaller injections. The fat transfer procedure may also be performed using local anesthesia in many cases.
