Understanding Hip Dips
Ideal representation of female body figure involves a half-circle streamlined silhouette that curves out at the posterior and inwards at the thigh. This may be an image that is taken for granted by a number of women. However, there are several women that just don’t have bodies which look like that.
Violin hips or hip dips refer to indentations formed around the curve of the hips, all the way to the thighs. These indentations can occur on the side of the hips. They are tightly fixed to the deeper part of the thigh bone, also called the trochanter.
The amount of fat and its distribution can make hip dips appear more pronounced. Hips dips are not an anatomical anomaly and don’t present a medical risk. However, some people may feel conscious about them.
Hips Dips Surgery Procedure
Hips dips cosmetic surgery or liposculpting is a fat redistribution surgery. It involves the suctioning of fat from one area of the body and injecting it into the trochanter area. This fat graft smooths out the curvature of the hips. Fat can also be removed from the dip area for creating a contoured silhouette.
Hips dips surgery is generally an outpatient procedure. You may be placed under general anesthesia as per your doctor’s recommendation.
- Fat will be removed from the body first using liposuction. Your surgeon may remove fat from the stomach, buttocks, or inner thighs. Small incisions are generally made for removing fat, which are then stitched closed and bandaged.
- Fat would be prepared for reinjecting into the body. The machine will spin the fat cells to separate blood and other fluids from it.
- The fat will then be reinjected in the hip area. Generally, stitches are not required at the injection site.
Ideal Candidacy for Hips Dips
Men and women that are within 30% of their ideal body weight with no prior history of bleeding and responsive skin elasticity make good candidates for fat grafting procedures.
You should be aware that 30 – 70% of fat that will be injected in the hip area during the surgery will get absorbed by the body within a year of the surgery. You may need to consider additional fat grafting procedures.
