Body Contouring
For several years, people have turned to the liposuction procedure to get rid of stubborn and excessive fatty deposits from specific areas of their body. But as popular as it is, it comes with a variety of risks like any other surgical procedures. Elite Freeze CoolSculpting, on the other hand, is a 100% non-surgical and non-invasive treatment to remove fatty pockets.
Each procedure has its own pros and cons, and both have shown to be highly effective in making the body look slimmer. So, which one is the best option for you? It’s best to talk with your plastic surgeon to get a clear picture based on your current health and any underlying conditions.
Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides Elite Freeze CoolSculpting to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding locations.
What is Liposuction?
During liposuction, a suction technique is used to remove fat from targeted areas of the body, such as buttocks, thighs, hips, abdomen, neck, or arms. Also known as body contouring, this procedure usually requires the patient to be put under regional or local anesthesia. In some cases, general anesthesia could also be administered.
The surgeon begins the procedure by making tiny incisions in the treatment areas. Once the region has been numbed by a local/general anesthetic, the surgeon will insert a narrow cannula through the incision and use it to suction the fat out. Once the fat removal is complete, the incisions will be closed.
A liposuction surgery can last up to several hours, depending on the extent of fat removal. Patients usually spend a few hours or overnight in the clinic or hospital so their surgeon can monitor their recovery. The majority of patients are able to return to their routine activities within a week.
What is Elite Freeze CoolSculpting?
Elite Freeze CoolSculpting is a cutting-edge fat reduction treatment which requires no incisions or anesthesia. This non-invasive, FDA-cleared procedure uses specially designed applicators to target, freeze, and eliminate fatty deposits.
If you have visible fat bulges in any of the following nine areas of your body, you are a solid candidate for Elite Freeze CoolSculpting:
- Abdomen
- Thighs
- Flanks (the areas around the sides of your upper body)
- Upper arms
- Underneath the buttocks
- Back fat
- Along with bra fat
- Submental and submandibular areas (areas on your neck, jaw, and head)
The reason why Elite Freeze CoolSculpting is so effective in removing localized fat deposits is due to the innovative C-shaped applicators. These applicators have been designed to mold to the natural curves of the body, providing them improved and precise fit. Additionally, the new-and-improved applicators can target up to 18% larger cooling area compared to older applicator models.
Liposuction vs. Elite Freeze CoolSculpting
There is little doubt that liposuction is an effective way to get rid of fat from specific areas, but it’s not for everyone. Liposuction simply won’t work for you if:
- You have an underlying medical condition or infection that could impair healing, such as diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, venous insufficiency, etc.
- You don’t have time to spend a day at the hospital and then a week recovering from the surgery.
- Your skin has poor elasticity.
- You absolutely do not want visible scars on your body.
Elite Freeze CoolSculpting, on the other hand, is non-invasive, with no downtime or recovery, no need of anesthesia, and low-to-no risk of scarring. The field of plastic surgery is advancing at a rapid pace, and Elite Freeze is simply the newest and safer alternative to many fat-removal procedures including liposuction.
