    Liposuction Surgery Consultation

    Liposuction Surgery Consultation

Liposuction plastic surgery is a proven and effective solution for body contouring to restore a smoother, more defined body shape by targeting specific areas of fat.  At the time of the initial consultation, the surgeon will determine the patient’s candidacy for this procedure and answer any questions that they may have.

The primary goal of the surgeon will be to enable the patient to make a judicious choice. The patient should interact closely with the surgeon at the time of the consultation process and unhesitatingly express any doubts or concerns.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides liposuction body sculpting to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding locations.

    Patient’s Inputs

During the pre-operative consultation, the surgeon will first understand the patient’s reasons for seeking liposuction cosmetic surgery as well as the specific aspects of their body that they are unhappy about.

In case the patient suffers from any pre-existing medical issues, they should disclose this information to the surgeon during this consultation. After attaining the required inputs, they can make suitable recommendations to the patient about liposuction surgery.

    Patient’s Cosmetic Goals

Every patient has unique cosmetic goals and needs about their body appearance. The surgeon will try to understand the patient’s aesthetic goals to create an individualized body contouring plan that incorporates these goals. This enables them to accomplish the patient’s desired results in a minimally invasive and more precise manner.

    Current Medical Condition

Ideally, the patient should arrange for their previous medical records from their doctor or specialist to be sent directly to the surgeon’s office ahead of the consultation.

The patient should also honestly reveal any current underlying health conditions, known allergies, or autoimmune diseases to their cosmetic surgeon. This allows the surgeon to make modifications to the liposuction plastic surgery plan to minimize the risk for the patient.

    Current Medications

The patient should enlist all prescription and non-prescription medications, including vitamins and herbal supplements that they are presently taking. They should take this list with them to the consultation and present it to the plastic surgeon.

In case the patient smokes, they should reveal this to their surgeon. The surgeon may alter their drugs schedule and ask the patient to discontinue smoking for a specified period for safe surgical outcomes.

    Questions and Answers

During the pre-operative consultation, the patient will have an opportunity to ask the surgeon questions on the procedure as well as the surgeon’s background.

They should openly ask questions and only decide after they are fully satisfied with the surgeon’s answers. A committed surgeon will offer the patient in-depth and accurate responses to their questions.

    Pictures and Testimonials

The patient may request the surgeon to show them liposuction before and after images and testimonials of past patients. This will enable them to develop reasonable expectations from the liposuction surgery and understand more about the procedure from the viewpoint of other patients.

This will enable the surgeon to close the gap of misunderstanding with the patient. This will enable the patient to make this critical decision based on firm information. This is better for everyone involved. Digital technology is critical here because the images provided using this technology creates a clarity for the patient that many years ago just was not possible.

    Liposuction Surgery Candidates

At times, it can be difficult to eliminate stubborn fatty pockets on the flanks, thighs, abdomen, and other parts of the body, even with a balanced diet and regular exercise regimen. These stubborn fatty deposits are usually resistant to natural treatment.

Liposuction plastic surgery is an effective option to eliminate fat from various body areas. During the initial consultation, the surgeon will establish whether the patient is a suitable candidate for liposuction surgery, and explain its advantages and limitations to them.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides liposuction body contouring to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding communities.

    Candidacy

Prior to proceeding further, a skilled cosmetic surgeon will first determine the patient’s candidacy for liposuction surgery. Ideal candidates for this procedure are in good overall health and weight within 25 pounds of their optimal weight range.

They want to eliminate fatty deposits that have been unresponsive to diet and exercise. People who are aged 18 years or older and meet the necessary medical criteria are suitable candidates for liposuction.

The following individuals may not be suitable candidates for liposuction plastic surgery:

    • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
    • People using blood-thinners, unless they can stop the use of these drugs in the weeks before the surgery
    • People with health conditions that could impede the recovery process
    • People who are allergic to lidocaine, which is used in the tumescent liposuction procedure

    Teens and Liposuction

A teen patient will be approved as a candidate for liposuction surgery only in rare cases. In case the teenage patient has lost a large amount of weight that has left behind stubborn fatty deposits, they will make an ideal candidate for liposuction. In addition, the surgeon will make sure that the teen has the emotional stability to cope with liposuction surgery.

The surgeon may establish that only one problem area requires treatment to improve the teen patient’s self-confidence. Some teens are unhappy about the presence of excess fat in the hips, calves, under the chin, and other regions.

This may cause them embarrassment within their peer groups. Liposuction plastic surgery may be a suitable option for such patients at it can remove fatty pockets in specific areas to develop a more contoured, toned appearance.

    Adult Candidates

There is no upper age limit for patients considering liposuction surgery. But liposuction does involve certain risks, similar to any surgical procedure.

Being in good overall health will help the patient cope with the surgery. Patients with serious medical concerns or those on certain medications may not be ideal candidates for liposuction surgery.

Individuals seeking liposuction should consult their primary care doctor and plastic surgeon to understand whether they are ideal candidates for liposuction.

Liposuction eliminates fat, but it does not tighten loose skin. For this reason, patients with relatively elastic skin will typically achieve better surgical results. In general, older patients tend to have less elastic skin.

    Health Concerns

The presence of certain conditions may exclude some patients as candidates for liposuction cosmetic surgery. Individuals with chronic issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure may not be suitable candidates for liposuction.

People with a weakened immune system or those with lung disease, heart disease, or poor blood circulation may not be appropriate liposuction candidates as these conditions could lead to serious medical complications.

Liposuction Surgery Before And After Photos

Liposuction Surgery Before And After Photos | Northern VirginiaLiposuction plastic surgery is a safe, effective, and proven surgical procedure to eliminate fatty pockets in particular areas and improve the definition of the body.

At the time of the pre-op consultation, the surgeon will discuss various aspects of liposuction with the patient. They may also display liposuction before and after pictures to the patient to offer them more clarity on liposuction results.

The main concern of a committed surgeon will be to inform the patient about liposuction, allowing them to make a judicious choice. The cosmetic surgeon will also encourage the patient to review liposuction before and after photos carefully prior to making a decision on the procedure.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides liposuction body contouring to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding locations.

What are Liposuction Before and After Images?

Liposuction ‘before and after photos’ are pictures of previous patients that have received this surgery with successful outcomes. These photos include images taken before the procedure and after the liposuction at a time when the post-surgical swelling and bruising have resolved, and the full outcomes of the surgery are visible.

The plastic surgeon will acquire these before and after images with the patient’s express consent and present them to new patients in a judicious and discreet manner.

The patient’s identity will be kept private, as per standard protocol. The only objective of the surgeon in displaying these photos is to help the patient understand the potential liposuction outcomes and develop reasonable expectations from the procedure.

Advantages of Displaying Liposuction Before and After Pictures

It is natural for a patient to feel anxious about the body contouring results of a major plastic surgery such as liposuction. They may harbor concerns about whether the results will look natural and be able to meet their cosmetic goals. Some patients may require only limited fat removal in a single site while others may need more extensive fat removal in a number of areas.

Certain patients may choose to combine liposuction with a tummy tuck, body lift, or another procedure for more comprehensive results. Irrespective of the case, the patient will be better positioned to make a well-considered choice after viewing liposuction before and after images.

The awesome aspect here is that these images can be scene from anywhere anyone can obtain Internet access. You can be in the middle of the Atlantic ocean on a cruise ship or watching your child play soccer and see these salient images. These images can give you reason to go ahead with the procedure or reasons why this surgery may not be for you.

    Keeping Reasonable Expectations

In case a patient has realistic expectations, they will be better able to appreciate the final results of a plastic surgery procedure such as liposuction. Patients should also understand that liposuction is a fat loss procedure rather than one meant for weight loss.

Patients considering more extensive body improvements should clearly discuss their desires and goals with their cosmetic surgeon. By showcasing liposuction before and after photos, the surgeon can try to ensure that the patient has complete clarity on what this procedure can and cannot achieve for them.

Dr. Sundin knows all about being transparent and with his body of work there’s no reason he should not be. He has nothing to hide and a long line of satisfied patients. He is outstanding on explaining the process which is why his patients are comfortable going into the procedure since they know what to expect.

    Website Image Gallery

Liposuction before and after photos can be a part of a dedicated photo gallery section on the surgeon’s website. New patients can readily view these images to understand more about liposuction surgery.

If the surgeon or their marketing team are active on social media forums, they can spread liposuction ‘before and after’ photos through these channels for broader exposure.
